Meet Rebecca | Saltrock Worthing Manager - Saltrock

Meet Rebecca | Saltrock Worthing Manager

Rebecca Turner is the Manager of the new Saltrock store in Worthing.

The first thing I saw of Rebecca was the picture she sent us wearing a big smile, despite being at the hospital receiving her final round of chemotherapy treatment. She is an inspiration to everyone here at Saltrock, deciding that she would not let her treatment get in the way of her role.

"Despite the challenges Rebecca has faced over the past months, never once has she let this affect her positive spirit at Saltrock. She never cuts corners, and her warm and genuine personality is infectious. Everyone in town seems to know Rebecca; it’s a pleasure to work alongside her and see how many lives she brings joy to."

I caught up with her to ask her a few questions about Saltrock life and her road to recovery:

What made you want to work at Saltrock?

I have loved the brand for years, even travelling down to Cornwall to get it. But it was the fact that it’s a smaller company that’s very friendly with a family feel that made me want to work here.

When did you first join?

I joined on 12th July 2021.

Which places have you worked previously?

I’ve mostly worked in retail. I worked for H&M for 11 years and I owned my own café before that.

How have you enjoyed it at Saltrock so far?

I have loved every minute! From my job interview to now, I’ve been made to feel welcomed, supported and valued already. I love the customers, my store, and the rest of my Saltrock family!

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I love interacting with customers and getting them excited about our products… but all of it really, and I have an amazing team, too.

Would you mind talking a little bit about your illness and how you have been dealing with it?

Not at all. I got diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and had to have a full hysterectomy at the end of January. Unfortunately, the cancer then spread, and I had to have chemotherapy treatment. I’ve just taken each day as it comes and dealt with what I’ve had to as it comes and mainly stayed positive!

What has helped you to meet the challenges of your treatment?

Keeping myself active and busy. I’ve been walking, running, and started baking a lot too! And today I got back to the gym as I like weight training a lot, too.

Now that you’ve finished your treatment, what 3 things are you most looking forward to?

  • Getting my muscles back.
  • Travelling
  • Seeing my friends and family more

Are there any positives that have come because of your illness?

Well, yes. I could save my twin from going through the same as me because I was tested for the BRCA1 Gene, and if she has it too then she can take steps to prevent getting ill. I have also found so much love and support from so many people, and it brought me and my brother closer together as we didn’t see each other much – he now calls me every day.

What is one fun fact that people don’t know about you?

I am obsessed with cats! I even stalk one cat from Russia on Instagram.

Despite only working for Saltrock for a short while, Rebecca has had a positive influence on our company and has been a great help to us as a member of the local Worthing community. We look forward to seeing how her retail experience and skills combined with her optimism help to develop our retail capabilities.
