Andrew Cottom, one of the world’s most respected big wave surfers, has been signed to Saltrock as their new brand ambassador.
Saltrock is proud to announce that it has entered into an agreement with World Class Men’s big wave surfers Andrew Cotton to represent Saltrock as its Brand Ambassador. Born and bred in North Devon, England, Andrew started working in the local surf industry so that he could continue to surf as much as he liked. His passion and drive to surf bigger and bigger waves took him around the world surfing in places like Fiji, Australia and Hawaii.
Andrew Cotton made history in 2011 towing McNamara Garrett into the record books with a wave measuring 78 feet! Andrew’s close relationship with Nazare was sealed from that day on. With the national and global media coverage that followed, Andrew helped to put Great Britain firmly on the surfing map. Andrew has surfed countless big waves himself, with some speculation in the press that he might even have unofficially broken McNamara’s record.
In 2016, he took part in an Irish big wave exploration project with Red Bull, which was captured in a short documentary film, Beneath the Surface. This documented his journey hunting down a monster wave off the west coast of Ireland.
Following a career threatening wipe-out in 2018 that broke his back, Andrew Cotton returned to form in 2019/20 at an elite level with an invitation to a World Big Wave tour event. This year Andrew is out to beat the world record waves of Storm Hercules in 2013.

Andrew re-joins a team of athlete brand ambassadors comprised of other influential riders such as Andrei Burton.
