Saltrock's special T-shirt to celebrate 30 years of children’s hospice

21/04/2021, North Devon Gazette

Iconic UK surfwear company Saltrock has continued its support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by designing a very special limited-edition T-shirt in celebration of the charity’s 30th anniversary.

The North Devon-based lifestyle clothing brand raised £10,000 for the charity last year with a range of rainbow-themed T-shirts that sold out within a matter of weeks.

This year, its team have fused CHSW’s logo with Saltrock’s own classic Tok character to create a new design they hope will raise £20,000 to help the hospice continue to provide vital care and respite to local families across the South West.

Saltrock brand manager Marie Clarke said the company was proud to be able to support the work of the charity’s three children’s hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon, Little Harbour in Cornwall, and Charlton Farm in North Somerset.

“The care and support the hospices provide children and their families never ceases to amaze and inspire the Saltrock team, so we look for small ways to give a little back,” she said.

“It’s been a challenging year for CHSW and we are proud to strengthen our partnership with the charity in their 30th anniversary year. We’re all looking forward to ‘sunny days and chasing waves’ and hope that money raised from our new T-shirts will help CHSW continue to be that lifeline for so many families.”

Saltrock: Surfwear and fashion brand to open in Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil

21/07/2020, Somerset Live

A new clothing store is to open in the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil at the beginning of next month.

Surfwear chain Saltrock, which previously had a shop at the centre, is to move into the unit left vacant since the closure of Brantano in 2017.

It is the sixth unit to be filled in the shopping centre this year, following the arrivals of NM Money, Buddy and the Bear, Eastville Project, Baby Wearing South West and Dive Academy.

The opening date for the store has yet to be confirmed, but it is hoped that it will be open at the start of August.

James Tovey, centre manager at the Quedam Shopping Centre, said: "We're delighted to announce the arrival of another great brand to the Quedam.

"As a South West retailer, Saltrock sits perfectly within our mix of national, regional and independent shops."

"We can't wait for our customers to visit this fantastic new store."

Founded in Devon in 1988, Saltrock has 33 stores across England and Wales.

The Yeovil store will become the clothing chain's third in Somerset, with the brand already having outlets at Clarks Village in Street and in Minehead.

Saltrock acquired by Crew Clothing

23/08/2018, Retail Gazette

Crew Clothing has acquired 25 Saltrock Surfwear stores in a pre-pack deal saving 162 jobs.

Plymouth Argyle chairman James Brent said he had relinquished control of the retailer after it faced “challenges” on the high street.

Saltrock fell into administration on August 17, before being bought out by a subsidiary of Crew Clothing Co Group.

As part of the deal, 25 stores and 162 jobs have been retained, but five stores of the Devon-based chain have been forced to close with 29 redundancies made.

The store closures include Plymouth’s Old Town Street and Exeter’s High Street, along with those in Bridgend, Street and Swansea.

Brent, who has just announced he is stepping down as Argyle chairman in October 2018, relinquished control of the Saltrock Surfwear leisurewear and accessories brand after it faced retail “challenges”.

“We are proud of the growth we’ve achieved over the last eight years, but now is the time for Crew to drive the business forward”, Brent said in light of the deal.
