January can be tricky. Back to work, back to school; the holidays are over and it can be hard to find the energy; are we ready to tackle another year?
But there are loads of great things about January. We’re super excited about 2017 and hope that you are too, so we’ve listed our Top 10 January favourites to spread the New Year love.
You did it. Christmas shopping, planning, cooking, wrapping and entertaining; it’s all done and dusted for another year and despite all the last minute panics it usually all comes together in the end. And anything that didn’t go according to plan, well there’s nothing you can do about it now.
After a long month of parties, treats and eating and drinking too much, we’re usually ready for a change. The prospect of clambering out of the sofa, hanging up the Christmas jumper and kicking the Ferrero Rochers into touch is a good feeling. Outside is good!
January is a new start, and the perfect time to wipe the slate clean, stop beating ourselves up over things that didn’t go to plan and to look forward to everything that is to come. The past is past, forget it and move on.
It’s actually a relief to stop the gluttony and start to think about what you’re putting in your body again. As much as eating and drinking delicious treats is fun, after a December of parties and excess it actually feels good to leap into healthy habits and reconnect with our bodies.
A year stretches out empty ahead, and who knows what will happen. The world is our lobster. No matter what 2016 chucked at us, January is the time to straighten our backs, take a deep breath and go for it. Take the power back.
New Year Resolutions are brilliant and a fun way to fight those bad habits from last year, but it’s even more fun to watch each other fall unceremoniously off the wagon!
We’re through the thickest chunk of winter and summer’s tiptoeing closer every day. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Mariah, Cliff, Noddy and the crew have hung up their Christmas hats for another year, and finally we’re free to get non-festive tunes stuck in our heads instead.
Or if you’re lucky enough, actually booking one! January is hands down the best time of year to plan a holiday – looking forward to it will help you sail through the rest of winter with a spring in your step.
The clouds start to break and the sky’s still there, and it’s lighter and bigger than you remember.
