English Riviera – Torquay
The English Riviera is a beautiful area of Devon that encompasses Torquay, Brixham, Paignton and more. It’s the perfect destination for a family getaway, with a multitude of activities to keep the kids entertained, as well as being right on the coast for a classic beach holiday. Spend the days on the beach if it’s sunny, or head to Paignton Zoo and get up close and personal with some of your favourite animals! Alternatively, head to the Babbacombe bay for some stunning views over South Devon – from the cliff-top promenade in England!
If you’re looking for Sun Sea and Sand, look no further, we’ve got you covered for a mini family break! The North Devon coastline has beautiful beaches in abundance – from Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde to Saunton Sands and more! Why not make the most of being by the sea and learn to surf? There are surf schools all over North Devon, and will teach you for an hour, a couple hours, half a day or more!If it’s not quite warm enough to lie on the beach all day and you don’t fancy surfing, there are plenty of walks with stunning views – walk from Croyde beach up to Baggy Point, past the car park where you can borrow some great family activity packs, or walk from Morthoe and along the cliffs, taking a breather at Morte Point.

The South Hams is an area in the South of Devon, composed of numerous towns and villages, including Dartmouth, Plymouth, Salcombe, Kingsbridge and more. It’s the perfect place to bring the family on a staycation adventure, with something for everyone to enjoy. Not only is the coastline designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but it’s a great location for coastal walks with stunning views. For those who want a more urban staycation, why not take a daytrip to Plymouth to get your fix? Along with the expected shops, restaurants and cafes, head to Plymouth Hoe, where you can take some time out and look across Plymouth Sound, Drakes Island and further to Cornwall. Alternatively, for a more quaint day trip, why not spend the day doing the Round Robin – take a trip on the steam train, river boat and bus to visit Paignton, Dartmouth and Totnes! It's the perfect place for a family break with the kids!
Lynton & Lynmouth
Lynton & Lynmouth – where Exmoor meets the sea! Lynton & Lynmouth are two villages in North Devon, with Lynton situated up at the top of the valley, and Lynmouth by the sea - with a funicular cliff railway powered by water to connect the two! The cliff railway is a must see whilst in the area – it’s the world’s highest & completely water powered railway! If the sun is shining, take a walk along the coast to Valley of the Rocks – a stunning dry valley with plenty of rocks to climb up! Alternatively, take a walk between Watersmeet and Lynmouth – an ancient valley with beautiful woodland and a river flowing through and down to where it meets the sea. If it’s warm, brave it and take a dip! Just a short drive away from Barnstaple, you can always pop into town on a wet day and visit the museum, or stroll around and visit some of your favourite shops, cafes and restaurants.
The most southerly point of British mainland, the Lizard feels like a country of its own. If the sun is shining, take a trip down to some incredible beaches – from Coverack and Kynance Cove, to Kennack Sands and more. There are some beautiful coastal walks from which you can see the incredible landscapes that are part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Beauty. Don’t fancy a walk? Why not visit the Marconi Centre – where the transition of the first transatlantic radio signal took place, and learn about radio signal – or the Lizard Lighthouse, the only lighthouse you can climb in Cornwall!

If you love exploring picture perfect villages then take a holiday to South East Cornwall. Looe is the perfect base for a holiday, with plenty of choice for accommodation and a town full of things to do. Take a fishing trip with one of the local fisherman, spend the day on the beach with the kids, or go on a day trip to Looe Island. The town is split into two – East and West Looe – joined by a bridge across the river. East Looe is the busier side, with the harbour and main area of shops, and Looe is the quieter side, but has some lovely restaurants and hotels. Why not walk around the coastline to Polperro? A traditional small fishing village, Polperro is largely untouched, with traffic free streets to wander around, taking a look into the small independent shops of arts and crafts, and head down to the harbour to watch the boats come in.

The most south-westerly point of British mainland, Lands End is a must see on your trip to Cornwall. Head down to Lands End for a day of education, entertainment and fun – there are a variety of attractions, from Arthur’s Quest, a 4D cinema of The Lost World, A Grand Experience, featuring Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, and much more! If you prefer to learn more about the natural landscape, you can collect your free walking guide and take a stroll around the coastline, taking in the scenery of granite cliffs, the famous lighthouse, and the Isles of Scilly.
If you would prefer a more relaxed peaceful holiday, spend the days down on the beaches at Sennen Cove, Lamorna and the surrounding area – you can walk along the coast path between the beaches and towards Lands End.

Padstow, famous amongst foodies and fishermen, is a great staycation location in Cornwall. A working fishing port, why not head out on a speedboat ride, indulge in Rick Stein’s Seafood or dine at Paul Ainsworth’s No.6. Head to the nearby beaches for a classic beach holiday, and go investigating in the rockpools with nets to see what you can find! You can also take a boat ride over to Rock and see if you can spot any celebrities! If you get the chance, don’t miss out on a Sealife Safari, taking a boat trip to see as much of nature as you can.

A seaside town in the South, Weymouth is the perfect place for a family break to escape the madness. Explore the waters nearby in a kayak or canoe, chill on the beach or take a stroll round the historic harbour. Head up the Jurassic Skyline and take in the panoramic views towards Portland and beyond, or visit Nothe Fort for a more historic attraction with more incredible views.
We love Weymouth, and have a store there so make sure you come and visit whilst in the area.
The Pearl of Dorset, Lyme Regis is a great destination for explorers and little adventurers! Famously situated on the Jurassic Coast, there’s an abundance of interesting geology and the chance to find your own fossils! Spend the day on the beach hunting for fossils with the kids, or take part in a guided fossil walk to find out more about the area. Alternatively take the family out fishing and see what you can catch, or take the RIB to Bridport and spend the day eating, wandering and shopping!

Situated on the Isle of Purbeck, Swanage is a small seaside town, and the perfect place to make your base whilst exploring the surrounding area. Take a trip to Swanage Pier, built in Victorian times, and visit the museum to find out all about it, or go on the Swanage Railway to take in the surrounding countryside – you can hop off at Corfe Castle and take a look around the ruins – spotting the “murder holes” and secret hideouts! There’s always time to relax, and Swanage beach is the perfect location for this – with a promenade running across the front and attractions alongside, hire a deckchair whilst the kids jump in a pedalo, and relax with an ice cream.

Famous for it’s large natural harbour, that some say is the biggest in Europe, Poole is a great destination for a family staycation. Spend the day wandering around Poole, head over to the Quay and take in the views across to Brownsea Island, and watch pottery being made, or take a cruise round the harbour. Spend the day relaxing on Sandbanks Beach, or take the Sandbanks ferry over to Swanage for the day!
