Saltrock is a British company built around a united respect for the natural environment. We instinctively protect what we love – so it’s natural for Saltrock to be very aware of how we impact our environment and do the best we can at safeguarding it. We take pride in our outdoors-orientated heritage and want preserve the invaluable properties of the earth’s ecosystems for long-term sustainability.

We are committed to improving our environmental performance. Saltrock HQ is a new, energy efficient unit and all our packaging waste is recycled. We are always reviewing our waste management programs to reduce waste, minimise bulk and use the most recyclable materials available. Our efforts won us the 2015 Ethical, Reliable and Sustainable Recycling Award in recognition of our dedication towards recycling and compliance to Environmental Regulations. Reducing our carbon footprint is top of the agenda and we are constantly reviewing our logistics to eliminate inefficiencies in transportation of products both into and around the country.

We adhere rigorously to all British Trading Standards and are members of the BSI, which gives us access to all the EU’s latest policies regarding environmental issues. We are fully REACH compliant and carefully conform to all current EU Directives about potentially unsound labour practices, and ensure all our cotton originates from countries judged by the EU to be ethically sound.

We maintain strong relationships with our suppliers to increase transparency across the supply chain. We have excellent relationships with our factories in India, China and Turkey; where our MD and Saltrock team members visit regularly to make sure compliance is being met. We are currently in the process of building our own “Saltrock Standard”, a code of conduct modelled on the ETI Base Code covering areas including child labour, discrimination, freedom of association and health and safety. Ongoing evaluation of environmental and ethical policies ensure that best practice is achieved by all factories.

At the heart of our company ethos is to leave a positive legacy on the communities we serve. We are proud to have worked with a number of amazing local, national and international charities advocating social and environmental wellbeing. Surfers Against Sewage are just one of them and as part of our ongoing support for the organisation we introduced a bag charging scheme in stores, with all of the 5 pence profit going directly to SAS and the amazing work they achieve to protect British coastlines. The scheme has seen an unbelievable response, with £8,613.10 raised in the first 6 months.

Our corporate morals concerning the environment are reflected in our ever-expanding Saltrock team. You can see from the vast array of bikes piled up at HQ each day that we are an enthusiastic bunch who believe in people power, opting for sustainable travel alternatives wherever possible. From triathletes and swimmers to surf life savers and board riders, we are passionate about the outdoors and love to utilise our surroundings.

Saltrock stands for integrity, honesty and fun –we recognise our role in taking care not to destroy what we all want to enjoy. We are always updating our social media pages to share the Saltrock message, educating and raising awareness of everything under the environmental spectrum and beyond, so keep up to date on our Facebook and Twitter pages for more information.
