Now that the Great British Summertime has arrived in North Devon in style, the team have given the Factory Store in Braunton a fresh summer look. This is the display which greets customers as they come in, showcasing the new womens collection. We think it looks fantastic – what do you think?

Saltrock Newquay Re-Opens! by Saltrock Newquay Manager Kat

We’re stoked to announce that Saltrock Newquay is officially open! We came in last Tuesday and had the store open again by Friday so it was a really speedy turnaround – huge thanks to Dion and Dean for coming down from Braunton HQ and helping us out.  The shop looks fantastic and is packed full of all the latest styles and designs from the brand new collections.

It’s really great to be back – the sun is already shining and we’re stoked for the summer to come.  I’m also delighted to welcome Jake to the team, who has already busied himself by turning the upstairs area into a beautifully organised stock room!

Come and see us at:

I just can’t face any more waves

Good solid swell has been hitting our shores for weeks now producing clean, glassy waves and all under a clear blue sky. And as it’s only March, we’ve had practically empty beaches and beautifully uncrowded line ups which makes you wonder – can there be anyone left who hasn’t had their fill of waves?

There’s been an endless stream of cars heading out to Croyde recently groaning under the weight of all the boards strapped to their roofs, and there’s been heaps of smug faces around Braunton and Croyde, people enjoying days off, sickies or holidays stretching contentedly and groaning, “Well I suppose I’d better go catch a few more waves,” leaving those of us with jobs / children / injuries to snarl and try not to stab them through the eye.

It’s been so good that sitting out the back last night I actually heard someone say something I never thought I’d hear.

“I just can’t face any more waves.”

Ridiculous really.

Anyway, all good things must come to an end as they say, and the swell’s due to drop off over the next couple of days so we’ll be back to the more familiar territory of forlornly scanning the charts and the horizon for the next swell.  So while the good times are rollin’, I’m off for a surf. See ya!

The planning has begun for the 2012 Saltrock Open

The lovely Dave Reed from the UKPSA has just been up to Saltrock HQ for a meeting about this year’s Saltrock Open, and things are starting to take shape.

The official date for this year’s event will be 4th & 5th June, during the Jubilee Bank Holiday long weekend, with Sunday 3rd held in reserve so we can be sure to take advantage of the best of the swell for the competition.  As always the contest arena will be at Downend Point in Croyde which has a fantastic view of the bay and is the perfect spot to watch the best pro surfers in the country at their very best.

The Saltrock Open is always a fantastic competition with the best surfers in the country travelling down to Devon to square up against the locals, and is often the first contest on the circuit. This year we’ve been talking about how to open the event up and get the public much more involved, and plan to have much more for people to do such as a skate ramp and a DJ, Xboxes and hot food available.
